Flagship Ginetta G60 presented

Ginetta launches a new flagship two-seater: 310bhp Ginetta G60, its first mid-engine road car for more than 20 years.

Price fixed at £ 68 k and limited to only 50 cars, the G60 is heavily revised version of carbonfibre-tubbed Farbio GTS, built the company Ginetta in March acquired.

Production was switched from bad Ginetta's new factory in Garforth, Leeds. The company has clearly carbonfibre bath, body and chassis re this engineered.

"We have redesigned the tub rigid and facilitates the production, the driving position, weight removed and created new body parts," says Ginetta.

Key measures-saving weight is a simpler, driver-oriented specification, with unassisted steering, no anti-lock, no electronic driver AIDS and servo-less braking. The G60 weighs now about 1100kg, close at less than the Farbio 400 kg.

Wishbone suspension and brakes post were also redesigned. But a Ford Mustang-litre V6 naturally-aspirated engine does continue to come 310bhp form. It is the same unit, the powers the Ginetta G55 racer.

The gearbox is to the rear wheels via a six-speed Ford and a Quaife limited slip diff. The drive train stops square section design bath on a new subframe, made from steel tube, instead of the Farbio. The tubular steel's new front subframe.

Although the 310bhp output less than the top-spec Farbio GTS-400, whose V6 was compressor for a claimed 410bhp, performance is impressive the G60 weight loss. Ginetta offers a sub 4.0 s 0-60 miles per hour time and top speed "of more than 165 km/h".

The last mid-engine Ginetta cars was the escort-based G32 1989.
